Walk for Alzheimer’s set for May 27th

The biggest fundraiser of the year for the Alzheimer Society Cochrane-Temiskaming takes place in three communities on Saturday, May 27th.

The Walk for Alzheimers happens simultaneously in Kapuskasing, Timmins and Temiskaming Shores.

Executive director Tracy Koskamp-Bergeron says you can register online and collect pledges.

Each walk is what she calls “person living with dementia friendly”, and the distance you walk is up to you.

“It’s accessible if you need to bring somebody in a wheelchair or in a walker, the trails that we have that we’re walking on are suitable for that,” she mentions.

Or you can show up looking for information and answers about dementia, and what the Alzheimer Society does in our communities. Koskamp-Bergeron says you can also donate to its programs.

“We absolutely would graciously accept and appreciate any donations that people can do and bring.”

All the money raised stays in the district to support programs and services.

There is much more on the event, the Alzheimer Society and what it offers, in the audio of our interview right here.
