Town of Hearst holding parade as part of 100th anniversary celebrations in August

After the pandemic cancelled the first chance to gather and celebrate, the town of Hearst is planning a week of activities to mark its 100th anniversary this August.  Economic Development Officer Lydia Rodrigue says among the events is the return of a parade.

“We use to have parades at the 60th anniversary and the 75th anniversary,” she said. “So we kind of want to bring this back. It’s just a way for us to all get together and celebrate the heritage and the community that we have in Hearst.”

Rodrigue invites everyone to enter something to make it a special event.

“Like if you had a tractor and you can pull a trailer behind you with decorations,” she said. “We want to have scooters, bicycles, motorbikes like if you have a nice Harley Davidson something like that, vintage cars basically anything that you want to showcase.”

Rodrigue hopes the parade route will be similar to the one used during the 75th anniversary.

If you would like to put something in the parade be sure to check out the Hearst 100th Facebook page or call the Economic Development office for all of the details.
