Hearst power is joining several other utility companies in the province’s new low overnight electricity price plan. General manager Jessy Richard says this new package is for those who use energy storage from the grid at the cheapest rate.
“And they can save $100 a year on using this price plan,” he said. “And there are also some grants out there for people to install these batteries at home, solar panels at home. There are grants for EVs.”
Richard doesn’t believe anyone from Hearst is using a storage system.
“All the customers that want to go a greener style of life – they will be able to benefit from a different price plan,” he said. “There’s already two price plans available throughout the province and now that’s a third price plan that people can change.”
Within the next six months the new overnight program will be available everywhere.
