An increase in taxes is ahead for residents in Smooth Rock Falls. Municipal Taxes are going up by 3 per cent, while water and sewer rates are up by 1.5 per cent. Mayor Patrick Roberts says there are a bunch of infrastructure projects that must be carried out.
“Plus we have accessibility to the washrooms, the pool, the community centre, water tower is getting done,” he said. “We have to finish off Main street, Kelly to the highway, and the corridor connections.”
Homeowners can expect a $63 a year average increase on their tax bills. Roberts says the town tries its best to keep rates as low as possible but the extra money will help cover the costs of the projects that will make the community better.
