This June’s Festival de la Jean in Kapuskasing could be one of the better attended ones. Centre de Loisirs Communications coordinator Marie-Soliel Veilleux says ticket sales records for the festival on June 16 and 17 are well ahead of numbers from the past.
“We have actually sold 300 tickets so far.,” she said. “Previous years we tend to sell more at the door. Last year, we had only 100 pre-sell tickets. So we are having our biggest pre-sell ever so that’s another first.”
Veilleux says what might be helping this year are the changes they’ve made.
“We’re gonna have the show outside in a giant tent that will cover the entire parking lot at the Centre de Loisirs,” she said. We will have a comedy gala on a Friday which is a first for Kapuskasing. We never have had any comedy galas. And to top it off we have a kids concert on Thursday before the weekend, for all the schools in our region.”
Veilleux says they have also combined some of the national francophone performers with the local musicians to give concert goers a taste of both.
