Road construction has been a big part of summers in Kapuskasing the past three years and it appears there won’t be an end anytime soon. Public works general manager Eric Cote admits it’s a big year of projects that includes another section of the Connecting Link from the Service Master business to Walmart.
“And the other job we are looking at is the first phase of or phase one of Brunelle North which would basically be from the highway to just shy of the arena,” he said. “Those are both full reconstruction projects where we replace water mains, sanitary mains, storm sewers, sidewalks, cubs.
He notes that the two major projects could create some traffic problems but the full situation won’t be known until the contracts are awarded.
“Might be as simple as staging one job before the other one,” he said. “Depending how it comes down, who does the jobs and how big they are, we can definitely look at different routes for traffic control and different staging to allow for a better flow of traffic through town.”
