New opportunity for your U15 hockey player to play at AAA level closer to home

There’s an opportunity coming up in our region for AAA-level Bantam hockey players – now called U15 – to play closer to home.

The U18 Timmins Majors are starting up their own U15 team. General manager Ron Holmes says the OHF and NOHA principle is usually that if you have the population to support AAA, the majority of your roster should be local.

“In this case, they want to make it a regional team. Numbers are down. And so in saying that, to be a true regional team, they lifted the restrictions,” Holmes explains.

“So we could have kids from Hearst, Kap, New Liskeard, Cochrane, Iroquois Falls, Kirkland Lake and maybe only a couple kids from Timmins.”

Registration has already begun online.  Holmes says 18 or 19 players registered the first day.  Details are on the Majors website and Facebook page.
