Rotary Club’s Bay Dip Challenge hits fundraising mark again

The Kapuskasing Rotary Club’s Bay Dip Challenge was another huge hit on Saturday afternoon. A large crowd gathered at the River Bay to watch 50 participants take the plunge for 22 non-profits in the region.

Organizer Don McInnis says over $30,300 was raised during the event.

“Everything went very smoothly as far as all of the jumpers,” he said. “We went through 50 jumpers in record time actually – we were finished in two and a half hours. Everyone really enjoyed themselves. I think we seen a lot of facial expressions of first-time jumpers hitting the cold water.”

McInnis says the support from the community was heartwarming from sponsorships to donations given to the participants.

He adds that even the weather cooperated nicely.

“Well I think the weather gods definitely watched over us this year,” he said. “This had to be the nicest weather we had compared to recent years.”
