There are changes to the advance polls for next month’s Kapuskasing Municipal Election. Clerk Chantal Guillemette says the number of advance poll dates has increased to three and the voting hours have extended.
“Previously in other elections, I think our hours were from 4 to 8 pm,” she said. “But this year we have Saturday, Oct. 1, Wednesday, Oct. 5 and Wednesday, Oct. 12 and all three from 10 am to 6 pm at the Civic Centre.”
Guillemette says changers were made to get more people out to vote.
“We have a lot of residents here in Kapuskasing that work on a rotation schedule whether it be at mines or somewhere else out of town,” she said. “So hopefully that’ll accommodate everyone or most people who wish to vote.”
To vote you will need to be a resident, tenant or border in Kapuskasing and not prohibited by law. You need to bring a long a photo ID to cast your ballot. There are 11 people running for municipal council.
