Dave Plourde has spent over 27 years in municipal politics in Kapuskasing, and now he can add being mayor for a second term to his list of accomplishments. Plourde, who was acclaimed for the post, says the past four years were challenging from the COVID-19 pandemic to the loss of his daughter Breanna.
“It’s four years that I wouldn’t want to see repeat itself,” he said. “But we did the best we could under the circumstances and we have come a long way in developing the relationships along the highway 11 corridor. I’m really happy and pleased that we have succeeded and really ensure that those relationships continue.”
He pointed out to the ties developed along the highway 11 corridor to key connections at Queen’s Park.
“I don’t think I have ever seen that much road work done in such little time,” he said. “We have more to come. There’s already two projects that were okayed for in the past year that we weren’t able to do this year. Those will be coming in the future and we are always on top of the next funding applications.”
