Town Council to repeal Brunetville Road bylaw

A bylaw that prevents residents from taking items to the dump on Brunvetville Road will soon be no more.

Kapuskasing Town Council is expected to vote to repeal the bylaw at the next council meeting. The bylaw was reviewed after a Brunetville road resident aired his concerns that trash was being left on the side of the road and in people’s yards.

Councillor Ken Munnoch says the bylaw is a double standard as no other streets in town have the same limitations.

Administrator Guylain Baril says the town might look at options on that stretch of road including a speed sign to monitor traffic flow and asking police to watch for unsafe loads.  The current bylaw was put in place in 2004.
