A long-time volunteer in the model town is being recognized by the Governor General tomorrow (Thursday) morning.
Louise Thomson will be receiving the Sovereign Medal for Volunteers at Rideau Hall by Governor General Mary Simon. Thomson is well known in Kapuskasing for her nearly three decades of volunteering with a number of groups including the Rotary Club and the Daughters of Isabella. She was also involved in a medical mission to the Dominican Republic to help the Haitian Refugees in 2013.
The Sovereign Medal is the highest honour for volunteer service that somebody can receive in our country.
