Rotary Bay Dip Challenge to have unlimited fans at event

The Kapuskasing Rotary Club received some good news from the Porcupine Health Unit regarding next Saturday’s Bay Dip Challenge. Organizer Don McInnis says at first only 100 people were going to be allowed to attend but that’s all changed.

“They said that we are allowed to have as many people on the ice as we wish, so we are really excited about that and it’s going to make the event so much greater,” he said.

He adds that’s a far cry from what their original plan was going to be.

“Ya we were going to have a draw – we were only allowed a hundred people, a hundred person gathering outside,” he said. “So we were going to have a draw and you would actually have to apply to go to come and watch the site live.

The Bay Dip Challenge begins at noon with a special welcome ceremony from the Kapuskasing Indian Friendship Centre. The first jumper is expected to hit the water around 12:30, and money from this event will go towards various charities in the community.
