Gogama is still waiting for help following an environmental disaster in March. 33 rail cars caught fire and dumped millions of liters of crude oil into the Makami River. After all these months residents of Gogama are still suffering from the aftermath of the derailment. This derailment is quite visible from the highway and according to MPP France Gelinas, looks like a moonscape with no tree, blade of grass or soil visible. It’s not the first time that there’s been a derailment near Gogama but this one is closest. Gélinas says that government talks a good game when it comes to protecting the environment but when they have an opportunity to act, where are they?
