If you are looking to enjoy some time outdoors during the holidays, the Remi Lake Ski Club in Moonbeam has its hill and trails ready to go. Manager Keith Atack says the club has been open since last Wednesday and everyone is thrilled with the snow conditions.
“We’ve luckily had decent snow fall after that early thaw right before opening,” he said. “So the hill itself has a nice layer of snow as it is with the season we could still use more compaction, but the hill itself is snow covered.”
Atack says their groomer is currently not working so they are offering free rentals today at the club so skiers can help pack down the hill.
He adds that the hill is changing its hours to accommodate students on the holiday break.
“It states that we are closed as of this Sunday, but considering the students aren’t going back until Wednesday, we are going to be open on Monday and Tuesday of next week,” he said. “For the purpose of people to take advantage of the hill as long as the Christmas break is still there.”
