Toronto musician records song about Smooth Rock Falls

A Toronto musician has written a song about Smooth Rock Falls. John Rahme (Rame like Fame) says the idea for the song about Smooth Rock came as he was writing one about Killarney, near Sudbury last summer.

“And I started following the Smooth Rock Falls rebranding story in the news over the last year became fascinated the whole idea of the $500 lots they were offering. This led me to do some research and I was inspired to write the song.”

He adds that he’s got a lot of fond memories of the north spending many of his younger years as a tree planter and recognized many of the northern communities during his research like Hearst, Geraldton and others during his research.

Rahme says Smooth Rock Mayor Sue Perras emailed him to thank him for writing the song.

“I really hope this song can be shared with more people in the community, generate a sense of pride. Smooth Rock Falls is an example of the potential every small town has and the amazing people.”

He says it took him a few days to write the song and then about a month to get it recorded. The Smooth Rock Falls song can be found on Spotify and other streaming websites.

You can listen to the complete interview below and we’ve also attached a copy of the song.
