Hearst’s economic improvement study gets grant from NOHFC

A $53,000 grant from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund is helping the Town of Hearst complete its economic improvement plan. EDC Director Stephane Lapointe says the project is nearly 75 per cent that looks ahead at the future of Hearst.

“Developing jobs right either for business already in Hearst really well established that they could expand and grow, or by attracting external investors or external business,” he said.

Lapointe says the project focusses on three areas in the community for future development.

“The airport area, where the municipality already has some land to grow, then we have the two other areas in Hearst, the Gaspesie Road area and the Fontaine Drive area,” he said.

A public meeting will be held to get input on the project once it’s complete.
