Vandalism strikes several areas in Kapuskasing

Vandalism in two parts of the Model Town has the Mayor a bit concerned. Dave Plourde says they were made aware about trees being tampered with on Avenue Road and signage in the downtown core also having some damage.

“We’re calling out to the public to ask if they do see anybody vandalizing anything in the area,” he said. “Please reach out to the police, call 911, or reach out to the town and let us know who the culprits are and we will make sure they are prosecuted the way they should be.”

Plourde says it’s all very disheartening especially with all the work being done to beautify the town.

“And we are doing our best,” he said. “If you look at the work we are doing along the side of the railway tracks, and what we doing to the west. We are trying to get things done and trying make it look nice and to have vandalism like that makes no sense.”

If you have seen anything regarding the two vandalism incidents or the garbage being left on Sturgeon Falls road, you are asked to call the Town office or the Ontario Provincial Police.
