The communities of Cochrane and Kapuskasing have its welcome mats out.
The community of Poplar Hill First Nation is being evacuated due to a forest fire. One hundred and eight of two hundred expected evacuees arrived in Kapuskasing late last night with more to come. One hundred and fifty will be going to Cochrane later today. Poplar Hill is an Anishinaabe (Ah-Nishi-Naa-bey) First Nation community located 120 kilometres north of Red Lake near the Ontario-Manitoba border.
