Great news for area communities of Moonbeam, Val Rita-Harty and Opasatika this week!
The federal and provincial governments announced nearly one million dollars in funding as part of the Canada-Ontario recreational infrastructure program. Moonbeam Mayor Nicole Fortier-Levesque says this is welcomed news for her community. The more than $879,000 will go towards a community hub project that includes improvements to the outdoor skating rink, tennis courts and nature trails.
Val Rita-Harty gets just over $180,000 to convert classrooms into a lounge, and install a controlled access to its community hub.
In Opasatika, the 97,000 in funding will go towards a children’s park, a new gym, and make the west side of the community hub more accessible.
