Craft and science kits, reading bingo offered at Kap public library this summer

If you are looking for something fun for the children to do this summer, the Kapuskasing Public Library might be able to help. The Library is offering Craft and Science kits as well as a Summer Reading Bingo starting on Monday. Chief Executive Officer Julie Latimer says the kits will cover a stretch of four weeks. The kits will be available the weeks of July 5th, July 19th, August 3rd and August 16th.

“So in one week parents, guardians, kids between the ages of 5-10 can come and pick up a kit,” she said. “They will have an activity for that week and the following week. And then the third week they pick up another package of two.”

Latimer says the bingo offers a unique way for children to enjoy reading.

“To get that bingo chip you have to have read a book that’s under 50 pages,” she said. “You have to have read a graphic novel, you have to read a book about ponies or about hockey.”

Latimer says the popularity of the library’s April break kits showed that hands-on activities can be much more fun than virtual ones. For further information on the kits or the bingo contact the public library or check out its Facebook page.
