Porcupine Health Unit urges us to stay home despite expiry of provincial order

The provincial order has expired, yet the Porcupine Health Unit is still urging us all to stay at home. Chief nursing officer Chantal Riopel notes that we’re still in the midst of COVID-19’s third wave.  As of Wednesday, 674 cases during the pandemic were caused by the variant that originated in the United Kingdom.

“This variant is harder to prevent,” Riopel reminds us. “If we could just stay home for a little bit longer and try to limit those outings and those exposures to other people, that could help us get us out of this third wave a little quicker.”

Riopel repeats the advice to only go out for work, groceries, prescriptions or to get a vaccine.

“There is light at the end of the tunnel, but it will take some time. It could take less time if we get vaccinated, we stay home and we follow the public health measures.”
