Virtual memory walk for Breanna Plourde growing in short amount of time

A virtual memory walk for the late daughter of the Kapuskasing mayor has grown in a short amount of time. Organizer Emma Dagenais says in a year the walk for Breanna Plourde has grown from just 100 follows and participants to nearly 1,000 on the social media that was created.

“We’ve had people that have been inspired across the world to complete kilometres,” she said. “Some of them even posting to say, I didn’t even know Breanna but this is so inspirational and she sounded like such a beautiful person that I was inspired to get out and move in her honour.”

Dagenais says participating in the walk is easy.

“You don’t have to run, you don’t have to bike, it’s any way that you want to move your body — celebrate the way your body moves,” she said. “Count house cleaning as your commitment to move your body every day then it absolutely counts and we want to see it. We want to see it posted. Do what you can do.”

A total of 6,354 kilometres to date have been covered in Brenna’s memory. Breanna Plourde died of cancer just over a year ago.
