Grain kits available to be picked up at Kap Public Library on Tuesday

The Kapuskasing Public Library is giving away 50 grain kits starting Tuesday at 10 am. Director and CEO Julie Latimer says it`s a fun activity for children and their families to learn more about agriculture.

“The grain farmers of Ontario have this free program where they provide libraries with a Good In Every Grain kit for kids and it comes with cup, ruler some information,” she said.

The kits also have wheat or soybean seeds, a soil wafer and a bilingual how-to-guide for parents.

Latimer says the kits are a great way to teach them agriculture and learn about past.

“And with the history of Kapuskasing and the Experimental Farm where they grew all sorts of fruits and vegetables and grains, it`s kinda nice to go back to that history if we are gonna to tie this in,” she said.
