Riverside Park in Kapuskasing may look a bit different in the future. Town Council decided last week to build a brand new grandstand-band shell and fix up the current gazebo. Mayor Dave Plourde says this is fitting of doing something special for the 100th anniversary celebrations.
“That gazebo we have there gets a lot of use, the intention is to repair it and make sure it’s on stable footing,” he said. “We want to make it a legacy project that we can use for the rest of the time in Kapuskasing.”
Plourde says the band-shell will get plenty of use from the many local artists that we have.
“An opportunity to showcase our talent, and also host the festivals, and a base to do that,” he said. “We spend a lot of time renting bandstands every time we have our festivals and if this means we have a permanent structure in the park then great.”
