No curling in Kapuskasing this winter

There’s no curling in Kapuskasing this winter.

Curling Club board of directors made the difficult decision during a meeting earlier this week.

President Jim Mangan says club was looking at a large deficit because of a 30 per cent drop in membership and not being allowed to host events or even rent out the facility.

The lack of participants caused many of the leagues not to have enough players to create teams. He added that the distancing measures that must be followed due to COVID-19 meant that the social aspects of the game were severely limited, including major changes to the on-ice game. Mangan says the board is hopeful that there will be some normalcy for the 2021-2022 season.
