The forestry roads can be a busy place this time of the year. Not only are there hunters, and those enjoying the fall foliage but you have logging companies with big trucks and construction crews heading north to the hydro-electric dams. Ontario Power Generation Stakeholder Relations Specialist Kate Cantin says we all need to be extra careful.
“There is heavy equipment around those areas too,” she said. “If you are in that area please be cautious and drive the speed limit or lower and make sure you are aware of your surroundings and possible equipment that might be around you.”
Cantin reminds you that you won’t be able to access the generating stations using the Little Long crossing near Smooth Rock Falls until the project is done in 2023.
“So if you want to access the area north of the lower Mattagami generating stations they’re going to have to drive down to Kapuskasing and drive up the Fred Flat road and access it that way,” she said.
