Kap Mayor says control group perfect example of everyone working together during pandemic

While the number of COVID-19 cases continues to rise, giving manly people concerns that a second wave has started, community leaders are doing their best to keep their residents safe. A control group of up to 25 organizations including Sensenbrenner Hospital, municipal officials, Centre de Sante and the two long term care facilities continue to meet regularly in Kapuskasing. Mayor Dave Plourde says the health care facilities are starting to show some strain.

“It’s getting taxing on everyone, obviously,” Plourde said. “It’s difficult on the hospital, manor and Extendicare to find staff and keep it rolling. But I’m feeling confident that if we continue to do what we’re doing, we’ll get through this.”

Plourde says he’s proud of the work the control group continues to do and that other municipalities need to learn from their success.

“It’s getting out there and sharing, with everybody with what’s being done,” he noted.  “I think it’s imperative that we continue to do that even after this is all said and done we will get through it. When we do, I think its important that we continue to share and provide the best that we can.”
