More streets to be paved in Kapuskasing this year

More streets will be paved in Kapuskasing this year. During a special meeting late last week, Town Council approved to maximize the paving budget of $390,000. Mayor Dave Plourde says they’re looking at more streets around the De Letang and Cournoyer area.

“The administration is putting together a list of streets that we could look at, but presently we are looking at Willow, Murray, Champlain and up to Radisson,” Plourde said.

Plourde says amount of time between council meetings can be problematic when trying to get projects finalized.

“What administration was looking for is some direction that if we want to continue and do more for the good price of asphalt that we’re getting, and if so where would you like to be doing it,” he said.  “We are going to spend our budgeted price in paving.”

It’s anticipated the work will begin as early as this week.
