Town of Kapuskasing adds bridge contruction to the list of projects this summer

There will be more construction coming to Kapuskasing this summer. Two grants from the provincial and federal governments have been approved for bridge repair work just west of Kapuskasing. Mayor Dave Plourde says they hope to get things rolling in August.

“It represents not a complete replacement of both bridges, but repair work,” he said. “It involves sealing, waterproofing and fixing the damaged concrete.”

Plourde says you will have to be patient driving this summer.

“It will be a busy summer for construction projects,” the Mayor added. “That will have both east and west ends under construction this summer and leading into the fall.”

The total cost of the project is $4.5 million with the town contributing just over three quarters of a million dollars. Several weeks ago the Town received approval for funding from the Province’s Connecting Link program to fix Government Road from LaSalle to Gurney Road.
