One new COVID-19 case is from ‘an institutional outbreak’: PHU

*UPDATE 12:30pm* Medical officer ofhealth Dr. Lianne Catton says the institutional outbreak is at Spruce Hill Lodge in South Porcupine.  The man in his 80s is the second resident to contract the coronavirus.  A woman in her 90s was confirmed as the first case there last weekend.

One of four new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in our region is what the Porcupine Health Unit calls “exposure from an institutional outbreak”, but its website post offers no explanation.

That one is a man in his 80s in Timmins.  The other three are from the designated “Cochrane, Matheson, Iroquois Falls and Smooth Rock Falls” area.  They’re a man and a woman in their 30s and a man in his 40s.  No information is provided on how they were exposed.

The running total is now 49.
