The three newest cases of COVID-19 in the Porcupine Health Unit area are all in Timmins. One of them is a woman in her 50s who works at Extendicare.
Medical officer of health Doctor Lianne Catton emphasizes that the woman’s case is not related to any exposure at the long term care facility.
“She has been in self-isolation since being identified as a close contact and any resident who is experiencing symptoms were tested and results at this point in time for COVID-19 have been negative across the facility,” says Catton.
“All long term care facilities at this point who are doing testing for any type of respiratory symptoms or potential outbreaks, the tests have already been going for COVID as well for some time now. And that’s been under the ministry directive and all of our facilities have been following that regularly.”
The other two cases are a mad in his 80s who’s been admitted to hospital… and a woman in her 50s who is at home.
The count of positive cases in PHU territory is now 34.
