20 years, $100,000,000 in regional development

It’s been 20 years since NEOnet began helping businesses across our region.

Director of operations Paul Ouimette says the not-for-profit promotes and grows broadband infrastructure and cellular communications, and educates small and medium business owners on how to use them.

Its latest initiative is a business technology fund “which will permit small and medium businesses to tap into up to $25,000 to help them with the scale-up and growth of their business, leveraging digital adoption,” Ouimette says.

He figures NEOnet has stimulated over $100,000,000 in regional development by securing funding for programs and projects.

“We’re really the advocate for the needs of Northeastern Ontario,” he assesses. “And if there’s a need that’s been untapped, reach out to us and let us know, because we need to make sure that we remain relevant for the needs of the north.”

NEOnet is holding a 20th anniversary celebration open house at its headquarters on the Timmins campus of Northern College on Thursday afternoon, December 5th.
