CKAP Radio Celebrates 54th Birthday and Anniversary

Normally Radio Stations like Moose FM don’t talk about themselves or make the news but this is a different story. MOOSE FM CKAP Radio celebrates its 54 birthday today. The station went on the air for the first time July 31st, 1965 and was one of 300 stations in Canada including 75 in Ontario that provided daily entertainment and information.
The original board of directors consisted of some well known Kapuskasing business people Willliam Bill Sheldon, Fred Heathcote, Al Gizuk and Miro Spacek. CKAP Radio has evolved over the years, including a move from the AM Dial at 580 to its current home at 100.9 FM.
The radio station has been a beginning point to many young broadcasters first starting their careers before moving. It was the first place to get the latest news, sports and weather thanks to the tireless hard work of long time News Director Margaret Jones.
