U-Haul driver up on charges related to smashing into OPP detachment

That incident last night in which a U-Haul rental truck smashed into the front door of the Cochrane OPP detachment has resulted in three criminal charges against the driver.

The 45-year-old man from Mississippi Mills,  about 50 kilometres southwest of Ottawa, is up on one charge of driving while prohibited, and two charges related to causing bodily harm.

A member of the public who was in the front lobby of the building was seriously hurt.

The driver is in police custody at least until a court appearance tomorrow.

Officers from the Cochrane detachment are still responding to calls.  Anyone looking for a criminal record check is being redirected to the Iroquois Falls detachment.  It’s in Monteith, just off Highway 11.
