MPP holding open meeting to hear from the public about recent education cuts

Your opinion on recent cuts to the education system is being welcomed.

MPP for Mushkegowuk-James Bay Guy Bourgouin is inviting the public to attend a meeting in Kapuskasing tomorrow that will put a focus on Premier Doug Ford’s cuts to education.

Bourgouin says he wants to hear the public’s thoughts on all topics related to the cuts, whether it be generically about the education budget or more specifically about topics such as increased class sizes.

He says simply put, your opinion matters.

“The town hall meeting is so I can hear from, whether they are for or against, so I can relay the message back to Queen’s Park.”

Bourgouin wants to get petitions signed off to the government so he can properly report the struggles that these cuts have created.

“These cuts do affect people and the government seems to say that they don’t, so to put a name to the cuts that they are doing. So for me it’s important that I get this feedback from the community, get their stories, get how they are affected, so I can report back.”

The event will see a few school representatives appear and they will be available as well to answer questions from the public.

Bourgouin will be hosting the public meeting at 4:30pm tomorrow at the Centre de Loisirs’ Salle Parras-Murray Hall.
