Tory MPP Blasts Liberals Over Ring Of Fire Excuses

A Tory MPP says the Ring of Fire was discovered 10 years ago and he’s blasting the Liberals for making virtually no progress to develop the site. Norm Miller of Parry Sound-Muskoka says in 2014 the Liberals committed $1 billion dollars on infrastructure for the site. But Miller says that’s all the Liberals have done. Miller says over the last few years the Premier has made a lot of promises, some excuses as well but to this day there are still no shovels in the ground at the Ring of Fire. Miller says Ontarians are fed up especially he says considering even the Liberals agree the Ring of Fire is an important discovery.   He says in 2010 the Liberals called the chromite find the most promising mining opportunity in Canada in a century.  However, in response, David Zimmer, the Minister for Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, says progress h, s been made and cites a joint government transportation corridor study as proof.   He says the study, worth nearly $800,000 links several First Nations in the Ring of Fire region.  Zimmer says instead of throwing up roadblocks, the Opposition parties should help the Liberals with their commitment.  Zimmer added the Liberals will make the Ring of Fire happen.
