Kapuskasing will support a fellow northern municipality’s claim for changes and expansion to the Ontario Wildlife Damage Compensation Program.
That is according to Chair of Planning Martin Dinnissen, who says the program provides financial assistance to owners whose livestock have been hurt or killed by wildlife.
Dinnissen says council decided to support the Township of Oro Medonte in requesting the OWDCP further rely on the opinions of municipal investigators when processing the legitimacy of a claim.
He says council supports the Township of Oro Medonte’s request despite their very few claims over the years.
Dinnissen says in supporting this request, the town is hoping these changes can lead to a better outcome in future cases.
