Plans For All-Access Road To Ring Of Fire Underway

Plans are underway to build an all-season access road to the Ring of Fire.

The province announced today it is working with three First Nations communities in the area to build all-season access roads to the Ring of Fire project as well as connect those communities to the main highway routes.

The province says environmental assessments for the project should be complete by January and construction should start in 2019.

Timmins-James Bay MPP Gilles Bisson says the province has made similar announcements before.

Bisson says the province plans to do environmental assessments for the project that should be complete by January and start construction in 2019, but they have made similar announcements in the past.

Funding for these roads is part of the province’s commitment to invest one billion dollars in Ring of Fire infrastructure to create jobs and provide long-term benefits to the region.
