Indigenous Culture And Science Come Together In Planetarium Show

If you have an interest in interstellar travel or what is beyond the stars Science North can answer your questions.

Science North out of Sudbury has launched their first ever planetarium show titled Under the Same Stars: Minwaadiziwin and they are touring their show through Northern Ontario communities throughout the month of August.

The show will be coming to the Kapuskasing area and in a news release Science North CEO Guy Labine says the focus will be the Indigenous people of Northern Ontario and their innovative and creative inventions that helped them to survive.

Labine says the portable planetarium experience gives people a chance to learn about the Indigenous worldview as well as become more understanding of the constellations within the night sky and the Anishinaabe stories that define them.

The portable planetarium show was developed through a joint effort by the Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture, and Sport along with Indigenous people across Northern Ontario, and funding from Ontario150.

They will be making a stop in Kapuskasing on Friday, August 18th at the Civic Centre Auditorium from 1:00pm to 4:00pm.
